Today is the much-anticipated National Re-Gifting Day!
Whether you are a frugal shopper, an avid thrifter, or simply enjoy a good bargain, this day has something for everyone. Re-gifting has been around since at least Roman times and throughout history, humans have found ways to circulate gifts in clever ways.
Nowadays re-gifting is a popular practice that helps us pass on items instead of ending up with unwanted presents cluttering our homes.
It’s not always easy to know when you can (or should) re-gift something. Here are some tried and true tips:
• Make sure it’s not personalized;
• Make sure it’s suitable for the new recipient;
• Keep track of who gave it to you originally;
• Don’t be embarrassed about regifting;
• Consider donating as an alternative if appropriate.
And above all else, make sure you follow proper protocols and re-gift with intention and respect!
So on this National Re-Gifting Day take some time to look through your stash of presents – if there is something that someone else would appreciate more than you do, don’t be afraid to share the gift!
