In the 1870s animal crackers were a type of snack made in the United States? It became a brand in 1902 and was originally known as Barnum’s Animals by the National Biscuit Company which is now known as Nabisco. This box of filled shaped animal crackers was named after P.T. Barnum and the packaging was in the shape of a circus train with a string at the top. They were designed to hang on Christmas Trees.
There are now 37 different shapes of animals. Usually in the shape of a zoo animal.
